How to use Hypnosis and NLP to address Limiting Beliefs
Why Use Hypnosis?
Hypnosis works by bypassing the conscious mind to influence the subconscious. Our subconscious mind accepts suggestions directly, while our conscious mind filters them based on our beliefs and experiences. Hypnosis can't make you do anything against your core values or beliefs. It's not mind control; you'll always be aware and in control.
When you see stage hypnosis, those participants aren't doing anything against their values. They subconsciously agree to perform because they feel it's acceptable. If they didn't, they simply wouldn't do it.
What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) uses hypnosis alongside specific techniques to address issues. NLP focuses on the language of the brain and has made significant strides in helping people overcome lifelong habits, fears, weight and body image issues swiftly.
Belief is key: if you believe change is possible, you're already halfway there. Often, underlying beliefs that you don't deserve to be happy, healthy or even worthy or deserving can hinder progress. Changing these beliefs is crucial.
The more your subconscious hears positive messages, especially in a hypnotic state, the more it will accept new beliefs.
Hypnosis also relies on the mind's ability to enter a trance state. If you're familiar with meditation or prayer, you're already adept at achieving this. If you're new to it, you want to practice shifting states with some guided self hypnosis audios. With practice, you'll become more skilled at entering a trance.
Understanding Beliefs and Limiting Beliefs
Beliefs are formed from our experiences, values, perceptions, and what we've been taught throughout our lives. These beliefs, especially those developed in childhood, shape how we see ourselves and the world.
Limiting beliefs are those negative thoughts we hold about ourselves, often subconsciously. For example, if you believe you don't deserve to be fit or healthy, this belief can sabotage your efforts to lose weight. When you start losing weight, this limiting belief can trigger behaviors that lead to regaining the lost weight, as it conflicts with your deep-seated self-image. The same can happen when a person tries to stop smoking and their smoking habit is based on a belief that they can’t stay quit without struggle, cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
To achieve lasting success, it's essential to address limiting beliefs. By identifying and challenging them, and replacing them with positive beliefs, you can create a supportive mindset that aligns with your goals. Hypnosis and NLP can be powerful tools to help reprogram these beliefs, ensuring that your subconscious supports your change process journey rather than undermining it.
